This section is to answer questions about the consultations I offer. If something is not answered here, please contact me. I welcome any questions.
Cost: $700, half of the fee is due as a deposit to secure your appointment
The consults that I offer are best for:
Adults who are wondering if they are Autistic and/or have ADHD
Adults who want answers about their possible neurodiversity for their own clarity and understanding
Adults who are verbally fluent
Those who prefer a neurodiversity affirming clinician
Those who prefer an online setting where they can be in their home
Individuals who wants to work with a clinician who is also neurodivergent
Individuals who want to work with someone who understands how Autism presents in female identifying people
Individuals who wish to complete a shorter process and do not want testing such as IQ, personality, etc (testing that would take place during psychological testing)
Individuals who have had poor experiences with past medical professionals they've voiced these suspicions to (you, know the "you don't look Autistic" or "You can't be, you make eye contact" types)
Individuals who are in Indiana or Texas (where I am licensed)
Who these consults are not best for:
Those applying for disability
Those who are requesting accommodations of any kind
Those who are needing assistance with guardianship
Those who need to use their insurance
Those who are not verbally fluent
In all of the above scenarios, your best bet is to pursue neuropsychological testing. I am firm about this because some organizations are very explicit on what they will and will not accept as a "proper diagnostic process" and I do not want anyone to waste their time or money.
People physically located outside of Indiana or Texas at the time of services
Those who wish to be seen in person
Process & What the consult includes:
We will discuss your needs in more detail and I will have you complete some screeners to help determine if moving forward makes sense. You are also welcome to send me any notes on why you believe this diagnosis is likely. If these indicate potential neurodiversity, we will likely move forward. If they do not, or I think you would be better suited for psychological testing, we will not schedule. I do not want anyone to waste their time or money. I schedule via Telehealth, usually on Thursdays or Fridays, as my schedule permits. I do not currently have a waitlist for these and can see folks within 30-60 days of inquiry.
Prior to our appointment you will complete some of the following:
My practice paperwork, which includes several additional self-report tools, screeners and where you write about your experience in more detail
Barkley Adult ADHD Rating Scale-IV (BAARS-IV)
Barkley Deficits in Executive Functioning Scale (BDEFS)
Pay a non-refundable $350 deposit to secure your appointment
If you wish to have others in your life complete rating forms/scales, I have these available, on request. They are also free to attend with you, with a signed release.
During our appointment we will complete (please block 3 hours):
Clinical interview
Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS-2)
Your remaining non-refundable balance of $350 will be charged before your appointment. If it is declined, your appointment will be cancelled and cannot be rescheduled until payment arrangements are made.
We will finish up by:
Discuss all of what the paperwork and consult indicated
Answer any questions for you or your family members
If requested, you can be provided a summary letter
I schedule these appointments outside of my therapy practice hours. When my website or Psychology Today Profile shows I am not taking clients, this only applies to my therapy practice. I do not take ASD clients for therapy.
Notes on Indiana and Texas assessment guidelines: Per Indiana and Texas code, an LCSW can assess, diagnose and use appraisal instruments to assist in diagnosing, that are within education, experience, training and within their scope of practice. Appraisal instruments are what I am using. I am not administering psychometric testing or completing psychological testing, which is done by a licensed psychologist. Please note, what I am offering is not psychological testing or a neuropsychological evaluation. If psychological testing is the better option for you, please go that route.
Notes on testing: If you are desiring an evaluation for a particular purpose (i.e. SSD/SSI, ADA accommodations, IEP, college, workplace, etc) it is best that you check with them for their specific requirements and follow those recommendations. Some have very strict guidelines of what they will and will not accept. In many of those cases, it will be best to complete psychological testing with a psychologist. I am not the best option if you are applying for disability or plan to. Please note, what I am offering is not psychological testing or a neuropsychological evaluation.
